Buildings included the dental office of Dr. Lázaro da Silva (Lazinho) and Jacinto Leme’s barbershop.
In addition, there was Joaquim Oliveira’s bar along the road between Engenheiro Coelho and Artur Nogueira.
Longtime residents remember the Guaquica Football Club, managed by Rachad José Flaifel, which ceased to exist around 1937. Around that time, Paulista Football Club was founded, with its field located beside the road, where it remained until the early 1940s. Around 1937/38, Amin José Flaifel and Adolfo Nimptz installed the first rural electricity line.
After the death of Antonio Alves Cavalheiro, his sons took over the business in partnership with Cristiano Hermann. In the early 1940s, the company Cavalheiro & Hermann carried out the first land subdivision in the Guaquica Colony. This marked the beginning of urban development, eventually leading to the formation of the city of Engenheiro Coelho.
Following this initiative, the area experienced increased industrial development. Various residences, bars, warehouses, a pharmacy, a gas station, a rice processing facility, a bakery, a butcher shop, and the “Terra Preta Football Club” (1942) were established. In 1946, it was renamed “Associação Esportiva São Pedro,” registered with the São Paulo Football Federation and still active.
In 1944, the Cavalheiro family and Cristiano Hermann sold Fazenda Guaquica to Sérgio Alves and Augusto Miranda. In 1945, part of the farm (168 alqueires) was purchased by the Forner family. The property included the main house, infrastructure, plantations, workers’ housing, a cassava flour factory, a football field, a river, a small hydroelectric plant, coffee and rice processing machines, mills, a sawmill, machinery, plantations (coffee, orange, eucalyptus), and forest land.
